Happiness and the Good Life: Introduction to Moral Theology

Happiness and the Good Life: Introduction to Moral Theology

Join MMGSI for a comprehensive introduction to moral theology, exploring the Church’s rich tradition of reflection on the human person and the good life. Students will examine the nature of happiness, the virtues, and the moral life as ordered toward humanity’s ultimate end, drawing on Scripture, the thought of St. Thomas Aquinas, and the living Tradition of the Church.

Emphasizing the intrinsic connection between living well and living rightly, the course presents the moral life not as a burden of obligations but as the path along which human beings discover and enter into genuine flourishing. Attention will also be given to the virtues as the dispositions that shape us for this journey, along with selected questions in practical decision-making and contemporary moral life. No prior theological study required.
