
2026 Mullen Lecture
Join Dr. Jennifer Newsome Martin for the 2026 Mullen Lecture, The Play of Eternal Glory: Divine Beauty and the Spirit of the Liturgy, an exploration of divine beauty and its place in the liturgy. Dr. Martin is a Catholic systematic theologian whose scholarship centers on theological aesthetics, especially the work of Hans Urs von Balthasar and John Henry Newman. She directs the University of Notre Dame’s de Nicola Center for Ethics and Culture.

Occurring annually since 1969, the Mullen Lecture brings distinguished Catholic thinkers to Saint Mary Seminary and Graduate School of Theology to discuss topics of relevance to Catholic theology and the life of the Church.
It is named in honor of Monsignor Joseph Mullen, former rector of the seminary. Distinguished lecturers have included Henri Nouwen, Cardinal Avery Dulles, René Girard, and Bishop Robert Barron.
